EVERY WALL
A THOUSAND PENCILS
BESPOKE GARDEN STRUCTURES, HAND-BUILT FROM RECLAIMED PENCILS
WHAT IS A PENCIL SHED?
A Pencil Shed is exactly what it sounds like: a garden outbuilding constructed entirely from pencils. Not pencil-thin timber. Not pencil-shaped panels. Actual pencils. Thousands of them, stacked, interlocked and bonded to form walls, roofs and floors of extraordinary beauty and structural integrity.
We source reclaimed pencils from schools, offices and factories across the United Kingdom. Each pencil is graded, sorted by grade and species, then built into our signature hexagonal pencil-log construction — a method we have refined over three decades.
The result is a structure unlike anything else in the world. Warm in winter, cool in summer, and impossible to walk past without stopping to stare.

FROM £19,500WHY PENCILS?
The pencil is perhaps the most honest object ever made. Cedar or basswood for the body, graphite and clay for the core, a strip of lacquer for colour. No pretence. No waste.
When you build with pencils, you build with that same honesty. The cross-section of a pencil wall reveals rings of wood grain, flashes of graphite, bands of yellow and red lacquer — a mosaic of pure material. No two sheds look alike. No two even smell alike.
We have been doing this since 1992. It never gets ordinary.
