Every Pencil Shed is designed to order. The designs below are our standard ranges — each can be scaled, adapted and specified to your exact requirements. Lead time is 12–18 weeks from deposit. We install anywhere in the UK.
THE CLASSIC
Our flagship design. Inspired by the traditional English timber-frame garden shed, reimagined entirely in pencil. Horizontal HB pencil logs are stacked in a modified saddle-notch joint, creating walls of extraordinary warmth and character.
The peaked roof is formed from rows of pencils laid lengthways, sealed with a beeswax and linseed oil compound we developed in 1998. Weatherproof to 15 years without refinishing.
THE STUDIO
Designed for creative work. The Studio's flat roof maximises interior height, while vertical pencil-panel walls create a clean, directional grain that rewards close inspection. Each wall panel is 90mm thick — outstanding thermal performance.
Large pencil-framed casement windows on three sides. Engineered for north light. Favoured by artists, illustrators and architects.
THE HEXAGON
Six walls. Each faced in a different pencil grade and lacquer colour. The domed roof converges to a single point, where a skylight of clear acrylic sits surrounded by pencil ends — the most striking feature we make.
The interior can be specified with a full 360° pencil bench running around the perimeter wall. Requires a concrete pad foundation. A genuine landmark.
THE WINTERHOUSE
Designed for year-round habitation. Double-skin pencil walls with a mineral wool core provide U-values comparable to modern timber-frame construction. A wood-burning stove is standard. The roof profile sheds snow cleanly.
Built for the serious garden room occupant — those who work, sleep and live in their pencil shed. Available with full electrical fit-out and underfloor heating.
